Philip Martin Fearnside is a North American biologist living in Brazil since 1978, internationally recognized for his pioneering research on the Amazon.
He holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Michigan and has been a senior researcher at the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) for over four decades.
Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and laureate of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize as part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
